Very nice find, Dave. I liked the way the writer described the physics involved, which I had never seen an article actually do before.Thanks for finding that. Maybe you should be an Archivist (did I spell that correctly?)

l met Slim at a Delco Highland games (before the pipers closed it down) walked on his toes as I remember, HUGE hands.

Great find man! I actually liked all the articles accept the one involving physics. Journalists don't really have a good track record for getting things right:;lh) especially not when it comes to physics. I recognize the error to. It is the same exact error the oldtimers usually make! Might this article be the source?

Well a 25 lb sledge with a 30" handle would only produce 750 inch-pounds of torque, if your hand was 1" wide:;lh).
I measured my hand while holding a sledge, and it is about 4". Which would produce roughly 190 inch-pounds. Less if your hands are wider, and more if your hands are narrower.
