Hi there. I live in the UK and bought a very old barbell from a second hand shop a little while ago. It has hollow globes either side and what look like bolts on each end. It weighs around 100lb. I can supply a photo if anybody is interested. Mostly I would be interested in exchanging it for some weight plates/ bars or dumbells for our community gym as we are running a bit short of kit.

474This is the barbell I referred to previously. There is also a 30lb dumbell i want to sell or exchange as part of the deal. These are genuine antiques. I don't know how much they are worth, but as I have said I am interested in exchanging them for equipment I can use in our youth centre gymnasium rather than simply flogging them. Hopefully there is an enthusiast out there who would appreciate the items and help me in turn to improve the gym.

Hi Gerard... I guess you have Mark's R's email also - just following it up with a post - the barbell would be a great addition to my vintage barbell collection - which can be seen on this clip also... http://www.gymequipment.uk.com/store/item/39k1s/Special_Bars/Dr_Toms_Combo_Bar.html
and I have lots of weights, two bars and a brand new Weider weightbench with barbell racks that you can have as a trade for the community gym...Mark R will have sent you my email address but PM me if you like ;) I know you used to train with Mark Felix and are now on the Oly lifts, yes? All the best, Tom

Hi Dave! How are you doing mate? Yes, it's amazing that these bells keep turning up - seems to be much more prevalent in Europe so good to see some English bars around ;)

Just PM'd Mark my mobile and E mail. Yes, I did train with Felix for a while and have practiced the Olympic lifts. I am currently working on basic strength and endurance with the aim of competing again soon, but don't want to limit myself to one thing. The more I look at the old time strongmen the more I realise how important all round development was back then and should still be now. It would be good to meet you guys.
