Zach Jacobs of Dallas, TX lifting 62.5lb. (57.5lb. in plates) on the new Ironmind hub. This was only his second time ever to try hub lifting. For the lift to be counted as good does he need to control the descent?

Sweet!
I've no idea on the rules, but nice pull nonetheless.
Up 5 pounds in 11 days? I wonder at what point he's going to plateau?
I take it he's your brother? Must be the genes. :)
Anyone have any ideas on what the human body is capable of (in regards to this particular lift)?
I certainly think 100lbs is doable, though it would probably take some combination of the right genes and the right training.

Well, I don't understand why everyone has snubbed me on the 'hub lift' thread and not given me an answer as to what the heaviest weight lifted on the new IM hub is. I'd like to have a solid answer on this so Zach has something to shoot for. He broke 60lb. (in plates) off the ground a few inches today. I understand that every pound makes a world of difference in this lift but he most certainly will break the 62lb. (in plates) barrier. If anyone else knows of a weight heavier than 62lb. in plates lifted on the new implement, I would like to know.

Very strong lifting on the IM Hub! I haven't had a chance to lift on the new one yet but I doubt I'd be breaking the 50lb mark so that's pretty impressive. Depends on the style used I guess, since I am very strong on the "outlawed" vbar-style. Not so much on the standardized claw-style. I'm always more impressed with the claw style though since it's my weak point.
Anyway, there are guys pulling some pretty stout poundages. Not sure why they are keeping it to themselves, unless they just aren't interested in "competing" in a thread with someone and want to put it on the line in a contest setting. I will keep the numbers I've heard to myself just because if the two guys I know that are really pouring effort into the new IM Hub want to let everyone know I guess they will in due time. They're both competitors in grip contests so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. They're both aware the numbers are extremely competitive though.

Excellent lift Zach!
It would definitely have to be controlled on the way down to count as "good" in a contest setting.

Hmm . . . sound to me like Zach is going to get Mike's money!
Here are the rules IronMind uses on the Hub—everything is probably what you'd expect and, yes, you can't just drop the lift at the top and have it count:

Nobody is snubbing you. The new hub is new. . . . therefore, not alot of people have contested / trained with it. There is no " new hub world record list " so Aarons lift is the best I have heard of, but you already got that info. Soon I'll be saying " Zachs lift is the best I have seen".

Exellent lift! I believe I said my lift was 62.5# total on the large pin not just in plates. That was the 2nd workout on it a few months ago and I have not maxed since. My workouts are generally focused on core lifts needed to win grip contests so this one does not normally make it into the rotation very often. I am doing some rep work on the IM hub in some of my current workouts though as part of my current thickbar focus training cycle. I'll prolly test a max in a few weeks again to see where I am at. But at this point it is really not that important to me to have the highest training lift on the hub. A contest record would be a different thing though.
Good luck to your brother Zach and I wish him continued progress. He likely already has the highest max weight lifted on one of these new ones from the sound of it.

Thanks for the input everyone. Now if I could only convince him that forums weren't a complete waste of time...

With all this talk of Hub numbers lately I decided to test my max today on it before my core thickbar focus work during my lunch time training session. I managed 67.7# total weight on a short pin or 65# in plates for those counting that way. Full height lift with a controlled descent. Weighed the whole setup on my postal scale after the lift which is usually within 0.2oz to 0.4oz of my plates weighed at the post office. I got video as well and will try to get it pulled off the camera and posted in the next day or two.

Nice. I'm sure if you dedicated more effort to the lift you could pull much more.

Nicely done! I think I might be able to pull 70# total weight now based on my last workout but still a little bit to go before I get 70# in just plates. Best of luck to your Brother on his goals and to you on yours.

Pulled just over 70# total weight today on the tall pin with the briefest of pauses at the top. Slowly inching up there.

Congradulations Zach it sounds like aaron has some competition on the hub nowadays. Am I to understand that you two are the best at hubbing?

It might also depend on the hubbing in question. They're both very strong on the Ironmind Hub. And I know Aaron is very strong on hubbing with plates. I assume Zach is very strong on hubbing with plates too. But there are some guys who are very strong on the Hub (or the plates) but are not strong on plates.
