A member forwarded me a PM that he'd received from another member and let's just say it was embarrassing (to its author) and had this message been posted, the guy would have gotten a strong reprimand.
So, please leave the sandbox level ad hominem insults to the little kids and let there be no mistake that your PMs should adhere to the same standards we use on the forum—if you can't post it, don't think it's acceptable to say it in a PM.

It must have been pretty bad. If it would have gotten a reprimand. Kim still hasn't been reprimanded for threatening assult with his comment to me here:
thanks for the props, Steve...
keep working on your strength, Cesare
Jordan, you've gone over the line...if I were
in Texas and you said that to me face-to-face
it would be a serious issue...but you seem
to be just another lost "inter-net guy"
not worth a response
However, I found something today which will make the banterings of certain parties cease to be an issue. The ignore feature. I hope it will prevent me from viewing all posts by that individual as well. At any rate, Kim can annoy someone else. A Kim isn't worth the seconds of my life.

Jordan,
technically what Kim said was NOT a threat.. im not trying to 2 face you here, or kiss Kim's arse either.. but when you get to the legal aspect of things, that is absolutely NOT a threat..
but you still have a strong crush..:;lh)

Sorry if I'm being dumb, but where's the threat? I think you and Kim just aren't best friends forever . . . yet. :;lh)
On the other hand, if I've missed something here, by all means speak up.

Kimberly is threatening me with assult here. Threats of assult are extremely serious legal matters and do not have to be spelled out as directly as you might think Dr. Strossen. Less than this could get the authorities involved. I know this because I use to work in the county clerk's office. This post of his is in response to if memory serves me, my calling him a liar. Well KW is a liar. He claims his bengals were all closing the #3 and #4 grippers in their weight room in the days where only a handful of men had even certified the #3. The only thing I respect about him is his opposition to performance-enhancing drugs in professional sports. However, if you took juice and HGH out of the NFL or NBA you would have guys that were maybe just a little better than college teams. It is sad that steroids are so ingrained into sports, but they are. But yes, Kim and I are not likely to be BFFs. Nor will we be taking warm showers together until the wee hours of the morning much to his disoppointment I'm sure. Hey Dr. Strossen or if I may call you Randall; I'll take that cup of coffee now if you don't mind :)

Kimberly? Warm showers together? Jordan, does your mother know that you think and say things like this? :;lh)
Seriously, my guess is that Kim might have been thinking there can be legal consequences with what people say and that the larger world doesn't operate in a free-for-all adolescent way that's so common on the internet, and stating that is not a threat.
Regardless, though, posts like this aren't really what this forum is about—Kim evidently struck a nerve with you, but come on, something like that is a big deal for a USMC guy? Shrug it off or reply with facts and maintain your dignity—if you accuse Kim of throwing mud, how do you think it makes you look if you respond in kind?

The issue isn't insults deserving insults the issue is that you would rather reprimand ad hominem remarks were they said on the forum instead of reprimanding or banning someone who is breaking the law. Just because I am a big bad leatherneck doesn't mean I need to put up with some criminal with a hard-on for trolling. Don't worry Kim, I have decided you just aren't worth persuing legal action against even though I'd have a strong case against you. I've already said several times today I'm ready to move on. 'nuff said.

my last post(thank you Randy, Mike and Man-Chick...see ya later)
for the record: during my time as an Assistant Coach
for the Cincinnati Bengals, Football Club-NFL from 1975-2002.
I had around the weight room and gave away to Bengal players 100's of IronMan, Body Culture, Decathlon, Tetting and Iron Mind"COC" "nut-cracker" style hand grippers. During this time I witnessed
at least 25 players close the #3 grippers(the actual number
of players was higher than that). Many players closed the
grippers on first try...all closes were "no-set"...
During this time period I usually had #4 grippers (primarily
for a joke) somewhere in the weight room...on two different
occasions I(and other players) witnessed #4 grippers being
closed from start(no-set) to handle-touching-handle closes
by Bengal players.
As a football strength training program prior to using grippers
Bengals' players were well coached in hand, finger and grip
training. Among the equipment and exercises used for grip type training: Nautilus leverage weight loading grip machines,
Hammer Strength grip machines, vertical weight loading
grip machines made by Warren Tetting, one and two finger dead lifts, barbell curls, reverse barbell curls, rectangular fixes,
ammunition bag "grab the cloth" curls, Niko Noga curls,
pinch griping(plates and special pinch board for barbells ), "telegraph key" pinching, ring weights, buckets of sand and rice,
death bag training, sand bag "punch" training, supination machines, Japanese "grip dynamometers,
pronation devices, thick bars of all sizes and dimensions,
Diccola bars, block weights, scale weights, steel balls, shot
puts of various sizes, Milo Kettlebells, wrist rollers of all sizes,
sledge hammers of all sizes, weaver sticks, Chinese newspaper
crushing exercises, bottle cap tearing, anvils and a whole
bunch of other devices and exercises...
Again, thank you, Randy and Mike... best of luck...

Kim, it was never my intention to drive you from this site. All I ever wanted was an end to the personal attacks, and a little bit of respect for the other members here. I am sorry to hear that this is your decision, and I hope that you reconsider, and if you do I hope that we can all leave the personal attacks and disrespectful posts behind us. I have said before, and I will say again that you have put out some of the most interesting and informative posts I have seen on this site, but incivility and disrespect towards others will result in nothing positive, and I think we have all seen this in the last week.

I might actually visit IM regularly again now that John Kimball Wood is gone. I have a future business prediction Randall: your sales will increase because KW won't be chasing them all off with his bullying and lies that a #4 was TNS closed not once but twice. Wow spelled it all out there. The league's worst ever team in its darkest years (during his time there no less) saw the weakest, slowest, with the greatest capacity for loss were in fact really blowing Joe Kinney (a stage 5 GOPD athlete by all accounts) and Magnus Samuelson, a man known for his grip training in the strongman field, OUT OF THE WATER! Football players aren't small, but they aren't generally as large or strong as professional strongmen like Magnus Samuelson. You know what? Forget it. Tomarrow I want to wake up and forget all about KW.

I run a small business and know that to survive in business you have to focus on the basics. You can't get bogged down in sideline projects that seem fun. In case you all missed the news that POWERLIFTING USA is going out of business. I vote that Randall keep his nose to the grindstone and if that means letting this B.S. go,so be it. It's nice, but the one guy who had long term credentials has been driven off, that's not good for business. Does this forum move the Brand forward? What happened here is not good fellows.

I'm sorry to see Kim go. If people would have actually read what he was saying rather than reacting emotionally (the whole thing about whining), they would have found a lot of good wisdom.
I've been trying not to say these things for some time--but I will say them now.
Jordan, you have a great heart, but you don't have a lick of common sense. This post is not intended as an insult, but take it for what it's worth.
First, with regards to "being full or being full of it," where you were eating tons of **** trying to get "big." What you did makes no sense. First, people can't change their bodies. You're tall and skinny. You will never be "big" in the sense of Schwarzenneger-type musclemen, at least not without taking steroids. And even then, you won't be an Arnold--accept this. But, you can become more muscular, and more importantly stronger, if you approach it the right way. And this means doing the right kind of eating (not the kind of **** you were eating) and the right kind of exercises--full back squats and deadlifts. Wait--I don't want to hear how they are hard for you (this again is part of whining). They ARE hard; they are meant to be hard. Taxing your body, and doing it in a prolonged regular fashion is the only way you're going to do it. YOU have to do the work. Suggestion--buy a copy of Dr. Strossen's Super Squats and FOLLOW THE PROGRAM!
Second, with regards to your thinking that certifying on the COC #3 is a waste of your time, because you have bigger fish to fry. That has to be the stupidest thing I have read on this forum, especially for someone who seems to define his identity solely on the basis of whether he can close heavy grippers. From what I have gathered you work out in various ways with the #3.5 and perhaps the #4. And now you have tennis elbow--imagine that! To me, what you're doing is akin to doing squats outside a power rack. Yeah, you might be strong enough to do it, and every time you do it you get lucky. But it only takes one time for things to go wrong and mess things up really bad forever. You are so eager to close the #4 that you don't respect it, and you especially don't respect its little brothers. The truth is, the way you train, that little annoyance (tennis elbow) could turn into a really big problem, and before you know it you may not even be able to close the Guard without excruciating pain. When that happens, you can kiss the #4 goodbye. Suggestion--If you can close the #3--and I am not doubting your word--then you need to certify on it the first chance you get. It's a big honor--it's yours. Take it!
Third, and I apologize for bringing this up, but you originally brought it up so I think it is relevant, you need to re-evaluate your priorities. I think it's a big mistake to neglect your significant other, ie. "date night," for training. The quickest way to lose someone is to take her for granted. By working out while you are on your "date," or cancelling a date because you have to work out, a person messes up one of those things that makes life worth living. It's a big sign that a person doesn't have any common sense. No suggestion here--you figure it out.
Fourth, I find it amazing that a grown man could take being called a "homosexual" as a serious insult, especially in this day and age. This is playground stuff. If you are not gay, then what's the big deal? And if you are gay, then so what. If you did not know, gays are now allowed to serve openly in the United States military--including the marines. Many of them have served with distinction. Suggestion--Don't let this kind of thing get your goat--it's something to laugh at, not something to make you puff up and get all macho.
If I had a fifth point, I would talk about calling for people to banned from the list. Yeah, people say some nasty things--but we are all grown ups here. That's life.
Jordan, like I said, none of this is intended to be an insult. It's advice. I hope you will read through this and think about it.

I don't think a man like KW cares enough about any of our opinions or any of the things you can possibly say to him on the internet to be "driven off". I agree, we have lost a source of excellent information, and it is truly a shame to see him go. But if you look at the history, he has been intentionally poking the hornets nest with a stick for a long long time, and clearly being entertained by the results. I think the main difference is that enough people got tired of it at once, and there was an overwhelmingly negative(from both sides)response this time, and the game simply stopped being fun for him, so he took his ball and went home. Everyone here has every right to speak their mind if someone is behaving in a way they disagree with on this forum...KW spoke his mind about Jordan, and a bunch of people spoke right back, and some ugly things were said.
It is not good, I agree, I wish the whole thing had never happened and regret the part I played in it, and sincerely hope we can all take it as a lesson that the purpose of this forum is to talk about getting stronger, and to receive and give training tips and advice...not to behave like children in the sandbox and belittle each other for perceived character flaws.

Here's my issue. I love to work out and have been doing it for years. I used to work out at home but when my job changed, I thought I needed more social contact, so I joined a gym. The first one is populated by grim, sullen lawyers, a negative environment. The gym I go to now is good and the people nice, however there are no serious athletes. (well except for ..That Girl.) Anyway, there is little "community" in the Iron Game. We can see that all around us. People just don't seem to be into hobbies. So I use the magazines and web sites for any sense of community. And then things break down with insults and feuds between people who are actually on the same side of things and have never met, well it's disturbing.

So is Kim gone or not? Personally, I hope he stays, wouldn't be the same without him.

Mob behavior? A few guys(I think at most 3 or 4) not coordinating in any way sitting at their keyboards and objecting to some of what was going on constitutes a mob? Not at all trying to restart anything here, but that's a pretty silly statement, in my opinion.
Though I do agree with your post as a whole, this stuff benefits no one, and kinda ruins the whole thing. And yeah, KWDS seems to be something of an epidemic around these parts, popping up every few months and raging through the population for a week or 2 before dying down. I got a pretty wicked case of it this time around, and am just starting to recover.

Mike, I wouldn't worry about it...if Randy won't protect
his forum from such silly and Kafkaesque people then
this forum becomes the GB... yes, I've said that before
and no, I haven't left for good yet...but why put out quality posts
when the level of awareness is GB II? I've got
books to write (and my own training)(and my big clinic is coming
up check-out www.FootballStrength.com )
why should I care about a GBII clown-show?

Hi Kim,
Yes, I think you are right - I could have the best bench press technique in the world - but if I haven't got the strength to lift the weight, it doesn't count for much.
I can understand that you would develop a "way of doing it" that suits you, and possibly you alone - but I also think that ultimately if you are strong enough you will bench that big number, you will close that big gripper and you will pull that big deadlift. If you don't - then you aren't strong enough!
I know that you can increase you chance of closing a gripper by getting it into a good position in your hand, but likewise, if I put an easier gripper in my hand in a "bad" place (handle well towards the thumb) then there is no chance of me closing it, even a number 1, It didn't take me too long to work that out - and I'm dull.
Surely there can't be that much involved in moving something less than 3 inches?
If I were stronger I could bench 800, close a number 6CoC, curl 450 and eat a fruit pastille without chewing it.
I'm not - I can live with that.
Glad your still here fighting.

Kim,
I don't really know here. I just got done looking at the Sorin #3 certification videos, and it looked pretty finessed to me.
After all, the way he inserts the credit card before each attempt--I'd say that requires some technique. :;lh)
Todd (just being a smart *ss)
For the uninitiated--go watch one of the old Johnny Weismuller Tarzan movies

Kim, my point has been that you haven't contributed any help to anyone trying to better themselves or their ability with grippers. All you do is spend 6 hours a day of your retirement trolling, blasting, and disrespecting truely strong and technically skilled guys like RS and LS to name a couple. Mike and Randall are always saying you know so much about the "iron game" well then use that knowledge to contribute/help train people, don't act like an arrogant, bullying, elitist. Simple as that. And don't go tattling on me to Randall about my calling you Kimberly when you have called me "man-chick" and saying threats that you couldn't possibly carry out if you were in the prime of life and armed. I'm willing to make peace with you if you are willing but if you ever try to bully me again I am going to return fire in kind. I know I hurt your feelings there and that is why you felt it necessary to defend your name, and mention your ancestor was in the civil war. Lets make peace and move on Kim. Truce?

Kim: Is it possible that you and John would consider producing a dvd of the clinic? The information, specifically as it relates to training the neck correctly, is one that is crucial to everyone. Dr. Ken addressed it thoroughly in his Steel Tip articles, and later Brooks Kubik and Matt Furey as well. Your clinic would be a great addition to many people.

the clinic has become a big thing(of which I am very proud)
we do "video" the affair but probably won't have it for sale...
the key here is that those interested have to "make an effort" and
make the trip...
the best strength speakers and information are presented for
little cost($25.00)(pays for the beer)but the real value is the format we use where
"inter-action" with the top people is encouraged. All the
top media will be there and people are coming in from all
over the world...

You guys have been hassling each other for quite a while, with neither side backing down—there's no need to see everything the same way and sharp questions can lead to clearer thinking, not just the exchange of harsh words.
But there also comes a time to recognize when a debate or disagreement has disintegrated into something that is merely counterproductive and that's when it's time to seek some middle ground.
I, for one, applaud your offer, Jordan—good for you for extending the olive branch to Kim. :;tu)

I did my research and in 1989 the Bengals played the 49ers and were ahead 16-13 and it took probably the best QB/receiver team (Montana/Rice) to get the ball down 92 yards before Joe Montana would throw the winning TD pass to John Taylor). When you consider that the best ever had to work their tail's off to win against the Bengals, that doesn't speak to badly about John Kimball Wood does it? I mean when you think about it, Joe Montana was an unknown until that year. So the way I see it, in order for the 49'ers to be the best, they had to get past your awesome Bengals. There, I said something nice about you and your team Kim.

Robert -
I read that post and said, I might have lived in San Francisco then and even had a TV so I used to watch the 49ers, but I don't know that much about football, so how could I have said that?
Checked and saw that it was actually Jordan's post, so I made the correction. Figured that maybe your fingers were cramping from some heavy curls or grip work and maybe you hit the wrong keep when you were posting that.
P.S. Anybody know how Jordan's been doing? Is he still hot and heavy on the big gripper trail?
