there's a highland games competition on the travel channel Monday at 11pm ET. It features Dhani Jones a Bengals linebacker who tries different world sports and usually does pretty good at them. Three shows ago he did a strongman challenge in Iceland (he got second place) this Mondays show will be in Scotland appropriately.

My favorite part is when Gregor said, "So you're a professionaaal fooootball playear? I thought you'd be biggar?" That was a great video on the website. I thought he looked like he was doing ok.

Dhani Jones taking the Inver Stone for a walk over the busy A93 road is not the smartest thing I have seen done with the Inver. Neither is the "pebble" comment in June Richard's visitors book. There was the possibility of an accident and the eventuality would have been the loss of the Inver Stone to the stone lifting community and about 500+ years of lifting history gone.

The story that Kaz took the stone over to the Inver Hotel and placed it on the bar counter, although he probably could have, is pure myth. There are few who could actually do this so please do not try unless it is extremely well organised.

Dhani seems like a fun guy and genuinely nice guy but he aint a member of the Brotherhood of Stone yet.

I didn't see the segment when he "carried" the Inver, but I have good information that he did not actually carry the stone the entire distance and it was essentially staged.

Bill, It was on the net for a while and I missed it too. I'm reliably informed that the stone was rested on the middle of the road for a short time and was quickly moved due to a speeding vehicle approaching. The pebble comment would appear to be attributable to Gregor and as he has managed to press the stone, I guess he has every right to call it as such (maybe).

Personally I don't think that it was a great stunt even if was staged managed to a degree. Simply the achievement of lifting the stone should have been sufficient as about 80% of visitors fail.

One day someone may well place the stone on the bar counter and when they do so they should ask Chris for a good Scottish Pint. Before 1820 or thereabouts, a Scottish pint was four and half times the volume of an English Pint...............Please no takers unless it is well organised.

Peter

PS. Visited the aptly named "Lifting Stane Farm" near Closeburn today - The stone is long gone.
