I tore something in my neck/clavicle area while performing a heavy farmers walk some years back and to this day I have some scar tissue built up over part of my left clavicle that gets irritated and inflamed when I front squat or do lots of push pressing. I've painfully tried to crush the scar tissue with a foam roller, lacross ball, and massage stick with no luck.
I guess as long as your scar tissue is symmetrical, you'll still look aesthetic

Maybe try back squats for a couple of months and see if they start to reduce or even go away.
Sounds more like something you would get from doing high numbers of heavy cleans from the floor type of thing - you know with the bump onto the body.
Seems odd especially if you are walking into the bar at shoulder height on a rack or cage sort of thing. Must be an awful lot of front squats.
Dont want to hijack the thread but just a quicky - anyone got any thoughts on creams for some serious stretch marks - biceps & thighs

I like the "idea" of the Stingray, but the fact that it is hard plastic and the edges of it are thin (almost come to a point) has always made it feel not great to me. I used it for a while and probably won't except for the lightest of lifts.
I wonder if the Squat Sponge would help make front squats more comfortable? I don't know because I don't have one, but they have gotten pretty good reviews for back squats.

I have this "problem" also but it's only on the clavicle on my left side. I started front squatting and doing power cleans about the same time a few years ago so I figured it was probably from the bar hitting it during the power cleans. But I don't ever worry about it because it doesn't hurt and my wife has never said anything so it's probably not noticeable to anyone but me.

The bumps are under the skin, on/above the bone but definitely not made of bone. On the surface the skin is perfectly healthy. Doesn't sound familiar?

Scar tissue on clavicles from front squatting
I've been front squatting seriously for over 10 years. They are pretty much the only way I squat now. I've always used the clean grip, never cross-arm. I've noticed that over the years I've developed a fibrous "bump" on each of my clavicles where the bar rests when performing front squats. They don't hurt but I'm a purist when it comes to my body; I despise tats, piercings, etc. While a couple of bumps on the clavicles may seem insignificant to others, when it comes to my own body I tend to see it as disfigurement. Some folks might sport them as a badge of pride- "Look at all the heavy front squatting I've done!"- but I really just want them to go away. Has anybody else gotten these bumps? Any ideas how to make them go away short of abandoning the front squat? A change in technique perhaps?Tags: None
